Burdock Root (Arctium Lappa) Tincture

To say that burdock root is a versatile herb would be an understatement, as its uses are vast. It is most used for its detoxifying, anti-inflammatory, moistening, and stimulating properties. Burdock, a member of the Asteraceae family,  is native to Europe and Asia and is naturalized throughout much of North America.  The root of this plant has been known to support the body’s gastrointestinal tract and digestion, respiratory system, circulatory system, lymphatic system, and assists the body through anti-inflammatory action. It also assists with skin conditions. In this tincture, the herb burdock root (Arctium lappa) is extracted in Everclear.

Uses for this tincture commonly include…

• Supporting skin integrity and reducing skin irritation as a diuretic and anti-inflammatory.
• Supporting the respiratory system and sinuses as an anti-inflammatory.
• Supporting the lymphatic system, glandular function, liver, kidneys, bladder, and gallbladder as a bitter.
• Assisting the body’s digestion as a bitter.
• Assisting the body in reducing swelling, edema, and pain as a diuretic and anti-inflammatory.
• Supports the body in lowering blood sugar.
• Supports the circulatory system.
• Complementary use with acetaminophen has been shown to support the body in restoring glutathione levels and decreasing liver toxicity. 

Dosage

• This tincture is to be taken orally and may be taken plain under the tongue, or mixed into water, juice, or milk.
• Typically it is best to use only one or two drops of the tincture when taking for the first time, only increasing the dosage as needed or directed.

Contraindications…

• Has a hypoglycemic effect.
• Not for use with diuretics or blood thinners.
